Best Motorcycle Roads

They've got an interactive list and Google maps post up at Wired's Autopia blog on the best motorcycle roads. You can add your own and share the curves. Two examples:
Highways 36, 3 and 299 from Huntsville to Blue Lake, Ca. Highway 36 is legendary among NorCal riders who consider it 140 miles of riding Nirvana. Yes, it's that good. But to make it better, swing north at Highway 3 and then go west on 299. A stretch of this 208-mile ride through redwood country is called the Trinity Scenic Byway, and with good reason - it's drop-dead gorgeous.
Trinity is gorgeous, the redwood country is awesome.
Highway 129 between Chilohowee, Tenn. and Tapoca, NC, also known as Deal's Gap and The Dragon. This one's obvious - it's so popular there's a freakin' resort at one end of it - and we've always thought it a bit over-rated, but you really can't complain about any road that boasts 311 curves in 11 miles. Be sure to check out the Tree of Shame and the bulletin board full of photos.
Sounds great. The Tree of Shame is hilarious.

you need to check out the "calif motoroads " website aka PASHNIT. Tim has ridden and mapped and photo documented just about every ride in the state. Check out the hiway 36 pics http://www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm

I hitch-hiked 299 once from Arcata, and went up from Helena to Hobo Gulch and then up to Grizzly Lake and climbed Thompson Peak.

I am definitely looking forward to being able to run the Tail of the Dragon, though I will be using four wheels as opposed to two... Oh well.

That said, we just got back from a vacation in Julian, CA, and just about every road into and out of that little town would be a blast in any sporty vehicle.

Try the "peak to peak" road, Hwy 72/119 from Estes Park to Blackhawk CO. If you want more, take Virginia Canyon Road over to Idaho Springs, then Hwy 103 up and over Mt Evans.
Catch your breath on Hwy 73 S. to Evergreen, then take Hwy 74 (Deer Creek Canyon) back to town.
That'll hold you for a while.

The last time I did Deal's Gap (the Dragon), I did it in my '81 Caprice, and I still don't think I ever slowed down to the speed limit (which is a ridiculously slow 30 mph, the better to grab your dollars with).
