Honeymooning in San Francisco? Bring a weapon

The coyote attacks are increasing, again.

Without warning, a coyote rushed out of the underbrush and attacked Winston, leaping on the 80-pound dog's back. I screamed so loud," Keating recalled. "I never thought he would attack us. I just couldn't believe it."
Maybe that is why the coyotes are there in the first place. People don't believe a wild predator would attack them. Did you think it was a vegan coyote?

In the city that hates guns in the hands of a citizen, the government will protect us, right?
"Killing them has to be the last, last resort," Friedman said. "This is San Francisco. To kill wild animals, which are not diseased or hurt, is not something we want to do."
Nice sentiment, but unrealistic. 23 coyotes have been killed in Southern California since December, the greater Chicago area has had to kill 350 to 400 coyotes every year since the 1990s.
Friedman said he's calling for a summit in the next two weeks to discuss possible measures. The meeting would include experts from the Department of Fish and Game, the city's Recreation and Park Department and the Presidio Trust, which oversees that park.
They're going to have a meeting? I hope the coyotes are impressed. I sure am.

I grew up near El Centro CA. We used to get a bounty on 'yotes.

We also got bounties on gophers, 25 cents a tail.

They'll probably handle the coyote problem the same way they handle guns; make a bunch of "No Coyotes Allowed" signs and post them.

a 'yote that attacks an 80-pound labrador should be presumed rabid out of hand, i would think.

When I was a kid in San Mateo County, the bounty on yotes was fifty bucks. Rattlesnakes were two dollars fifty cents and rats were a dime!

I agree a yote attacking an 80 lbs. dog is a shoot on site yote.

The No Yotes Allowed signs will be posted on the No Guns Allowed poles.

Don't tell anyone, but...

There have been more than 23 'yotes killed in SoCal. Don't ask me how I know.

No bounties, just can't have them killing pets and stalking horses on rural properties.
