When SCOTUS affirms 2A is an individual right
We all discussed what might happen if we lose. So what might happen if we win?
Imagine the second amendment is ruled to protect an individual right to keep and bear arms, arms that are appropriate for use by a militia (which would really mean any infantry type weapon). We might even get something on what a militia is and who would be in it.
First thing that comes to mind is so called assault rifle bans. M-16's are infantry weapons. Not only would an "almost a M-16" appear to be protected, but actual currently in use military weapons for infantry should be protected as appropriate for militias.
Next is all the handgun bans and pseudo safety regulations effectively banning handguns. Then there are regulations limiting calibers to .50 or less. Also all the feature bans, like pistol grips on long guns. We may well see these bans swept aside as these limits on guns are increasingly viewed as off limits.
I would think a win would also influence carry restrictions. Laws that are prohibited from restricting weapons ownership should also be prohibited from restricting possession in public places. I can easily imagine the lefter wingnut politicians saying "Your not restricted from owning it but you can't ever actually, you know, use it." So, it won't be easy.
A win would also result in shear PSH™ from New York, Chicago, California, Massachusetts's, Hawaii and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership™. I'll enjoy that.

I honestly think you are being a wee bit overly optimistic, but I certainly would not complain if such a chain of events came about. As it is, I am sure the Supreme Court will hand down its ruling (assuming it supports the district court's original ruling) in such a manner that the "reasonable restrictions" we currently "enjoy" can remain in place, for the safety and betterment of humankind.
Don Perata and Jerry Moonbeam and the rest of the CA Slugislature will drag their slimy feet and leave a thick PSH trail of legal mucous-membrane - we need a Governor who will cut through their crap and it isn't Arnold.
$50 AK's are available in Africa. The neighborhoods are a little rough, but what the hell.
I know I am being optimistic. That's just me. Carefree and optimistic, never cynical.
A real conservative or libertarian governor would such a relief. I'm holding my breath in anticipation.
I'm going to stop worrying and expect a favorable decision. Simply tiresome to continually await bad news. Then I'll bide my time as the states thrash it out, and since this will change life as we know it, begin a shopping spree to end all.
Next Christmas would be good.
